Our client within the Public Sector seeks a hands-on automation specialist with strong Playwright and Cucumber coding skills. You will write, debug, and refactor end-to-end test code, following established best practices and automation tools.
Working to fixed release dates in a changing delivery environment, you will take responsibility for identifying and communicating quality risks, and ensuring they are appropriately managed. Planning and coordinating your own automation activities while helping shape and evolve an automation-first quality strategy that supports rapid delivery without compromising confidence in live services.
Ensuring new products, supplier-delivered work, major updates and routine fixes are thoroughly tested and ready for release. This includes coordinating system and system integration testing in line with established practices and procedures.
Key responsibilities
Define and continually improve the automation-first testing strategy, ensuring frameworks, tools and approaches remain fit for purpose.
Identify, assess and communicate quality risks and automation results using clear, evidence-based insights to inform defect resolution and release decisions.
Test functional and non-functional aspects of complex systems built using multiple technologies.
Lead by example in developing, debugging and refactoring high-quality automated tests.
Work closely with developers to build a shared understanding of system design, code quality and test coverage, and influence unit and integration testing practices.
Collaborate with test analysts, product teams and user-centred design colleagues to cover complex business scenarios and user needs through automated and exploratory testing.
Perform system testing (ST) and system integration testing (SIT) using automation.
Prioritise competing demands and workstreams to meet fixed deadlines, escalating delivery and quality risks when necessary.
