An exciting opportunity has become available with our prestigious client who is a prominent government department. The client is seeking an experienced Improvement and Recovery Programme Manager to join their welcoming team.
The Improvement and Recovery Programme Manager Role:
Lead the robust definition, delivery, and handover of projects / programmes to deliver the organisation’s Recovery Plan to timescale, within costs and with full benefit realisation.
Advise and guide delivery teams on programmes, and projects to support the delivery of the Recovery Plan.
Support the reporting honestly and transparently to Corporate Leadership Team, Members, Transformation Board, Improvement & Recovery Board, which includes the Department for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities appointed commissioners, or the children’s services intervention Boards (including the SEND Local Area Board), which includes the Department for Education appointed commissioners.
As a proficient expert with exemplary leadership skills, this role will work collaboratively with the managers to define and raise the standards for project management and build a culture willing to embrace learning.
Responsible for conducting robust evaluations throughout the project lifecycle to ensure projects and programmes align to the original business case and meet agreed milestones. In addition, reviewing progress with stakeholders and conduct a review of lessons learnt.
What Improvement and Recovery Programme Manager Will Need:
- Qualification in Programme /Project Management (APMP/Prince2/P3O/MSP) or be able to evidence more than 6 years’ experience in complex organisation(s)
- Experience of working collaboratively with Senior Management/stakeholders
- Leadership - able to inspire others and champion innovation in a large organisation
- Strong knowledge of the issues facing local government together with the legal, financial, and political context of public sector management
- Strong knowledge of the impact of issuing a Section 114 notice, and the methods of recovery
- Ability to deploy relevant business/commercial knowledge and techniques including project, programme and change management techniques, research methodologies, KPIs, standards
- Ability to work autonomously developing and using own professional network to introduce and maximise best practice
- A commitment to equality and diversity
