Head of Service Operations. – Transformation, Operations, ITIL, COBIT, Stakeholder, Government, Digital.

A fantastic long-term opportunity for a talented individual to run Head of Service Operations within the government sector. You will be a part of a team, responsible for the development and delivery of all live IT services to staff across this sector. Supporting multiple live environments across a complex technology estate and embed best practice for IT Service Management across the organisation

You will own and develop the technology operations strategy for sectors Digital & Technology division moving from an outsourced supplier model to an in-sourced one.

Responsible for creating and implementing a cross operational strategy for common services, ensuring we continuously improve and transform services

Supporting cultural change, acting as a strong advocate for service operations while contributing wider ideas within the senior management team

Key Requirements

Proven track record of managing continuously available technology and IT services within a large high-profile organisation:

Experience of delivering a transformation and modernisation agenda whilst maintaining existing service levels

Experience of increasing efficiencies within service operations to deliver cost savings

Experience of managing budgets of around £50 million and operations teams of 150+ people


Excellent technical skills backed up by strong domain knowledge and expertise:

Technologies we use and their role in business-critical systems

Service management best practice (ITIL/COBIT)

Senior operational management within a critical environment

The wider IT industry and the emerging trends and technologies relevant to service management and IT operations.

Experienced leader with the ability to get the best out of colleagues, partners, stakeholders and suppliers for the benefit of the organisation:

Ability to embed a working culture characterised by collaboration, continuous improvement and commitment to high performance

Ability to investigate issues and challenge assumptions at the highest levels with delivery partners, stakeholders and clients in an effective way.

Proven commercial expertise including contract negotiation and supplier management, especially in the context of IT services and operations.

Relentless customer-focus and a proven track record of changing and improving IT services to deliver better outcomes for the user.

SC Clearance will be required for you to consider for this role.
