We are seeking a strategic and visionary SC Cleared Head of Data to lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive data strategy. This senior leadership role involves defining the organisation's data purpose, establishing long-term visions, and ensuring that data capabilities align with future science, technology, and business needs

Key Responsibilities:

Define the organisation's data purpose, vision, strategy, and related policies, working closely with executive leadership to ensure ongoing relevance and impact.Establish and oversee agile, future-focused data systems and infrastructure aligned with long-term strategic goals, accommodating the complex and evolving nature of data.Ensure compliance and assurance of data holdings in accordance with regulatory, statutory, and contractual requirements.Lead the development of data governance frameworks, policies, and training programs to upskill staff and embed best practices across the organization.Cultivate external collaborations with government, academia, and industry to advance data practices, leverage external capabilities, and maintain thought leadership in data management and innovation.Serve as the organization's data domain owner, representing data interests across all relevant domains, and engaging with senior government stakeholders and advisory boards.Advise senior leadership on data capabilities, governance, policy, and interoperability, and report assurance and compliance metrics to relevant authorities.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Senior leadership experience in data governance, assurance, or related fields.Proven ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of an organisation and external partners.Experience navigating ambiguity and delivering innovative solutions.Track record of fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative organizational culture.Experience translating strategic goals into actionable initiatives.Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration.Degree in science, mathematics, computer science, data science, information systems, or a related discipline.
