An exciting opportunity has become available with our prestigious client who is a prominent government department. The client is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join their welcoming team. As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will be responsible for support the government department with their digital transformation requirements for effective business operations.

 

The Cyber Security Engineer Role:

- Utilise you expertise of core web technologies to meet business requirements

- To provide solutions to hinderances to business requirements

- To utilise infrastructure as code to a high standard in order to automate tasks/deployments/tests

- To input resilient/highly available systems

- To communicate advice and expertise to colleagues across the business to improve ways of working

- To take an active role as a digital ambassador, be a part of the recruitment process, and share knowledge through various routes

- To be involved in the in-house (2nd line) support

- To be a part of the out-of-hours support rota (1 week in 5 with an allowance paid)

- To ensure that colleagues across the business understand the work being carried out by explain technical concepts in simpler terms

 

What the Cyber Security Engineer will need:

- Active SC Clearsnce

- Good previous experience using UNIX-like OS

- Good previous experience with a minimum of 1 programming language

- AWS/Terraform/Cloud Foundry/Kubernetes experience

- Strong knowledge of software design principles

- Strong problem solving skills

- Experience of using automated testing

- Experience/knowledge of agile environments/version control

- Some experience with web security

- Good knowledge of network protocols

- Some experience with test driven development/continuous integration/continuous delivery
